Review your fleet status

Action:

Review your fleet status in the Compliance Planner :

Log in to check the status of your fleet. Under the item MARPOL Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) , you will find the complete list of your vessels and their individual status in connection with the EEXI. Depending on your fleet, you will find some or all of the following information in the Compliance Planner:

  • Calculate attained and required EEXI and generate EEXI technical file
  • Vessel not subject to EEXI
  • EEDI is within the required EEXI

Within the Compliance Planner, you also have the possibility to order voluntary statements for each stage. More information on voluntary statements can be found here .

Calculating the EEXI

Action:
Action:

Calculate the EEXI using DNV’s EEXI tool . Guidance how to use the tool can be accessed from within the Help function in MyServices .

Reviewing the attained EEXI

Action:
Action:

Review the attained EEXI on the results page of the tool, and in case of deviation from the required EEXI, either

  • iterate with the suggested Energy Power Limitation (EPL) as shown on the results page

or

  • investigate other options to improve the attained EEXI by consulting DNV’s Maritime Advisory. Improvement measures are outlined here .

EEXI technical file

Action:
Action:

When you have decided on the technical solution and your attained EEXI is within the required limits, you can issue and submit the EEXI technical file for approval from within DNV’s EEXI-tool . In case you do not intend to use the EEXI-tool to generate the EEXI technical file, you are free to upload your own document by selecting a vessel and “Request for approval” from the EEXI landing page.

Onboard Management Manual (OMM) for EPL/ShaPoLi

Action:
Action:

In case an overridable Engine Power Limitation (either EPL or ShaPoLi) has been applied to achieve the required EEXI value, you need to generate an Onboard Management Manual (OMM) and submit it for approval.

DNV offers a manual generator for the OMM under Manuals&Plans . You may also be routed to the OMM generator when you submit the order in case you applied an EPL. The OMM can be submitted for approval together with the EEXI technical file within one order or, in case the OMM is generated at a later stage, needs to be uploaded to the already existing EEXI technical file order.

Approval of alterations in connection with EEXI (excluding EPL/ShaPoLi)

Action:
Action:

In case additional measures beyond EPL or ShaPoLi are applied, further review may be necessary. Examples of additional measures are, but not limited to, the installation of altered turbo chargers, permanent limitation of main engine power, change of propeller, alteration of bulbous bow, installation of alternative propulsion systems like sails, rotors or the usage of any other energy saving devices (ESD) to achieve the required EEXI values. In these cases, an additional contract for alteration to approve the changes to the vessel and/or components needs to be established in the form of an alterations project.

Approval of alterations EPL/ShaPoLi

Action:
Action:

According to DNV-RU-SHIP Pt.4 Ch.9 changes or extensions in hardware or software covering essential functionality are subject for approval.

The documentation and process for alterations in connection with overridable Engine Power Limitation (EPL) or Shaft Power Limitation (ShaPoLi) can be found here .

The documentation shall be submitted by the owner through the “my services” tool here .

Alteration survey to confirm and accept final installation (including EPL/ShaPoLi)

Action:
Action:

When the documentation is approved, an alteration survey will be available for ordering in the survey request scope.

Final implementation - first periodical survey in 2023

Action:
Action:

Verification that the ship's attained EEXI and technical file are in accordance with the requirements shall take place at the first annual, intermediate or renewal survey, and will be part of the scope of the IAPP survey.
