The digital MRV Readiness Check provides shipping companies with a fast gap analysis between their own monitoring and reporting system and the requirements according to the new EU regulation on Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV).

The new MRV regulation requires ship owners and operators to annually monitor, report and verify CO 2 emissions for vessels equal to or larger than 5,000 gross tonnage (GT) calling at any port of the European Union (EU). Data collection takes place on a per voyage basis and starts 1 January 2018. The reported CO 2 emissions, together with additional data (e.g. cargo, energy efficiency parameters), are to be verified by independent verifiers and sent to a central database, presumably managed by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA). The aggregated ship emission and efficiency data will be published by the EC by 30 June 2019 and then every consecutive year.

The digital MRV Readiness Check provides a comprehensive checklist for all the data that shall be monitored on EU-related voyages and that shall be reported to the central database. For each kind of data, a full explanation is given so that responsible and interested persons can learn about and check themselves in their MRV at one stroke. Furthermore, the MRV process and its timeline are illustrated to provide ship owners and managers a fast and ease approach to the topic of MRV. A news section informs regularly about the latest updates on MRV, frequently asked questions are answered and direct contact to our experts is given as well as all links to further information.

The digital MRV Readiness Check supports environmental compliance officers and fleet performance departments of shipping companies to easily identify the gaps between their current monitoring and reporting systems and the requirements according to the MRV EU regulation. The MRV process is explained in an illustrative and practical manner so that responsible and interested persons can quickly learn about how to handle MRV.
